SanDisk Sansa Express 2 GB MP3 Player
Monday, March 30, 2009
The Sansa Express MP3 Player is the first ever flash-based mp3 player that comes with a microSD expansion slot and without a cable. Built into the Express is an FM radio tuner, an integrated microphone, audio recording from voice or radio, a brightly illuminated four-line OLED display screen, and controls that are intuitive for easy and quick navigation.
The Sansa Express fits directly into the USB port on any computer. Whether it's the side of your laptop, or the front of your desktop tower, there's no cable, and it's about the size of a pack of gum. Weighing in at less than an ounce, the Sansa Express mp3 player is the very definition of portable.
File formats supported by the Sansa Express include WMA, protected WMA, WAV, Audible, and MP3. If the 2GB of flash memory isn't enough to meet your needs, there is a microSD expansion slot to enlarge your music capacity. Subscription music stores are also supported in most cases. The digital FM radio tuner has the capability of recording radio broadcasts, allowing you to store a favorite song or piece of information for later reference or enjoyment. There is also an option to set up to twenty of your favorite radio stations as presets. If you need to make a quick memo or note to yourself, the Express is ideal. Simply use the integrated microphone, record your voice memo, and access it anytime.
There aren't any difficult programs to download and learn to navigate through with the Sansa Express, either. Once you connect the Express to your computer's USB drive, your operating system will detect it and the Express will show up as an additional drive. Drag and drop your music files from your computer to the Express, and you're done. Unplug the device and go. The battery life is good, and will generally give you up to fifteen hours of use when it is fully charged. You can recharge the battery by simply connecting it to the USB drive on your computer. That means that while you're transferring songs from your computer to the Sansa Express, the battery is also recharging. Included in the retail box are the Sansa Express MP3 Player, lanyard, headphones, USB extension cable, and Quick Start Guide.
The Sansa Express mp3 player is so compact and lightweight, that it is really ideal for just about anyone. It fits in any pocket, and is relatively inexpensive, and is perfect for people who are on the go.

Samsung P2 8GB MP3 Player Review
Saturday, March 28, 2009
The Samsung P2 is an eye-pleasing update to the Samsung product line of mp3 players. It has sleek, sophisticated, round edges, is quite lightweight, and has a black glossy finish that is reminiscent of a grand piano. The sound quality is excellent, especially compared to similarly priced mp3 players on the market. The battery life varies depending on how much you utilize the touchscreen interface, but on average you can expect twenty to thirty hours of use.
I was a little reluctant to purchase a touchscreen mp3 player, as I generally prefer to press physical buttons, but the execution of the P2 interface is excellent, and I must admit it has won me over. One thing I might mention though, is that when advancing the screen from one to the next, you have to swipe it from right to left, which seems a little counter-intuitive. The reverse is true when you are looking to go back a page, swiping from left to right.
With the manufacturer's default settings, you make a circular motion on the screen to go through the menu, which can be a little tedious, although it seems like a fun feature at first. Thankfully, this feature can be disabled, letting you use a more functional grid menu.
The functions of the P2's audio player are superb, although it can be difficult getting it to sync with Winamp 5.5. However, if you use Windows Media Player to sync your P2, it should work great. The P2 will sync your playlists without any problems, and is also excellent about recognizing albums when they are copied directly like a mass storage device. The integrated player functions are complete with a customizable equalizer that has several presets and a clarity adjuster. The spectrum analyzer, album art, and track info are great additions, but it would have been nice if the preset light shows tracked with the music. I consider that to be a minor flaw, though, and it doesn't really detract from the experience very much at all.
The video player is not bad, although there are some problems with motion blur while viewing dvd's. Also, in order to view videos, you will need to convert them through Samsung's software in order to play them. That seems to be fairly standard though, with most similar mp3 players requiring you to use some sort of proprietary software.
The Samsung P2 can be a bit pricey, but in addition to the features I've already mentioned, it also has an FM radio tuner and bluetooth capability for up to two different bluetooth devices. There is also a pass-through for your cell phone to a set of bluetooth headphones. The bluetooth feature is particularly useful if you have headsets, a car radio, or speakers that utilize bluetooth technology.
Overall, I feel that Samsung has made a great contribution to the mp3 players currently on the market with the P2. If a new mp3 player is in your budget or on your wish list, then this one is comparable and sometimes even better than the market giant iPod Touch.

iPhone Apple
A lot of interesting products have been shifting their focus from a few dedicated enthusiasts or professionals in a certain field of work to mainstream, or at least to more than just a chosen few, and the smartphone is one of these wonder products.
While the first smartphone, IBM's Simon, was released to the public in 1993, it took almost a decade for this class of products to go mainstream, as RIM released the first BlackBerry in 2001.
In 2008, about 100 million smartphones have been sold, and the surprise came from the Apple iPhone, a product that arrived in mid-2007 and instantly got up to 1 million units sold. Just think about this - it only took 3 days for them to sell 1 million iPhones!
As you probably know, the Apple iPhone already got two versions, the original model being followed by the iPhone 3G, with the only major difference being the 3G support of the last one, of course.
The things setting the Apple iPhone aside from the competition include its built-in accelerometer, the touchscreen-driven interface, as well as - let's admit it - the "cool factor" brought by the Apple name.
When looking at the two generations available so far, we can notice that the maximum storage capacity remained the same, 16 GB, only that the second generation doesn't have the entry-level 4 GB model anymore.
If you want to talk about problems, then you'll find a lot of those with the Apple iPhone, like the low resolution camera, lack of the essential copy-paste feature, or the countless complaints related to 3G performance, although most of them can't be linked to the device itself. Another problem, one that makes a lot of people stay away from smarthpones, carry a spare battery with them, or a phone with a longer battery life, is - you got it - the very short battery life, especially when you get to use the device to surf the Web.
Despite the strong competition it has to face, the Apple iPhone has shown the world once again that, no matter what you do, you can get things right from the first try, with two conditions: great customer support, and smart marketing. Apple has them both but, if some customer ends up with a lawsuit against them because the iPhone or another product didn't live up to his expectations, Apple also has some very good lawyers...

HiPhone I32 Or HiPhone 3G - What Are the Differences and Upgrades? Which is Better?
Thursday, March 26, 2009
The HiPhone i32 was quite popular when it first came out, but we haven't had many upgrades to this phone for quite some time. However, that has changed with the release of the new HiPhone 3G. I get a lot of emails wanting to know how the phone has been upgraded or changed and if it is worth it to buy a new one. I'll try to answer these questions in the following article.
Major Upgrades In The New 3G Version Of The HiPhone. Below are what are the main upgrades that have been made to the original.
1. More Memory: The first version of this phone allowed for 2GB of memory. This new one can hold up to 16GB and this is in keeping more on par with the iPhone.
2. Smaller, Slimmer Phone, And Rounded Back / Corners: The older i32 was pretty bulky. The new one is slimmer and now has the rounded back like the iPhone 3G. Most people much prefer this look and find that it makes the phone less cumbersome.
3. Quad Band (now all 4 bands): The older 32 was only a tri band. It excluded the 850 MHZ band which you most commonly see on AT&T. Now, that's not an issue because the phone covers all the bands.
4. Java: This is probably one of two of the most popular upgrades. This phone now supports Java downloads, software, and applications. Most of these are free. This opens up so many additional possibilities. There are tons of Java games, productivity applications, email clients, shortcuts, and other applications that are now possible because you can now download and save jar files.
5. Drag-able, Customizable, More Plentiful Icons: The older version of this phone was fashioned after the iPhone that was popular at that time. But, with the apps available for the original, your typical welcome page is a moving target. Everyone's is different. With this new 3G version, you can customize the icons and drag them to where you want them. Basically, you can take inventory of which functions you use most on the phone, get an icon for it, and then place it where it will be the most useful to you.
What Hasn't Changed All That Much: Despite all of the improvements, the basic functioning of this phone is the same. It still has the very popular shake and tilt feature. It still has dual sim slots so you can have two networks or numbers. It still has Bluetooth, a digital camera / web cam, FM radio, handwriting and voice recognition, and voice recording. You can still make calls, use SMS and MMS and browse the web with any activated GSM sim card.
The old phone had the "flow touch" interface and this one has it too, but has added the page turn feature. You've probably seen commercials for the iPhone where the user is scrolling through the touch screen in a page turning motion. This phone does that too.
So, Is It Worth It To Buy The New 3G Version?: The answer to this question is going to depend on whether you want or feel you need the new features. If you are happy with your HiPhone and get by with the tri band and the 2GB and you don't need Java, then there's no reason not to still love your phone.
But, if you don't yet have this phone or want to upgrade to Java, more memory and the sleeker new look with the new icons, you might like the 3G and it's not that much more expensive than the original.

HiPhone 3G - What's Been Added Or Upgraded on This Dual Sim, Third Generation iPhone Clone
The excitement that was generated when the original HiPhone i32 came out seems like an incredibly long time ago, although it really wasn't. I think it seems long in terms of time because so much has been improved with the iPhone clones between now and then. Still, the original HiPhone i32 was really innovative for it's time. It was one of the first clones to introduce the "shake and tilt" feature (where you can advance the phone by shaking it.) And, it was one of the first that had a decent finger touch interface. It allowed you to scroll through the phone and edit photos using only your fingers.
So, now that the new HiPhone 3G has started to become available, I get a lot of emails wanting to know just what is different about it. I'll go over some of these things in the following article.
What's Been Added: Java, 4 Bands, A Sleeker Size, And More Memory: There were some grumblings about the original i32. It was only tri band. It was a bit fat and bulky. And, it could only accommodate 2GB of memory. This 3rd generation model had rounded edges so it looks more like the iPhone and the housing is more slick. Java has also been added so that you can add a lot more games, applications, and downloads, including Word and PowerPoint.
Additionally, this third generation model can now hold up to 16GB of memory. The clone has been waiting for this capability for a long time. And, this one isn't so big and heavy. It's 11.5 X 6 X 1.2 centimeters. It still has the one button at the bottom and the minimalist fat touch screen, but it's a more stream lined phone. The old phone was only a tri band. This one includes all 4 bands.
It can be used with any GSM sim card, including those that are prepaid. Common networks that this phone is used with is T Mobile, Fido, Rogers, and AT&T. It now includes the ability to flip the screens on the phone like turning the pages of a book.
The Icons Can Be Customized And Moved Around: Another thing that people like about this phone is that there are more icons. You can go with the typical standard iPhone welcome page or you can customize it to include those that you use the most, only where you want them. You can touch an icon and drag it exactly where you want it. And, there are now icons for any application on the phone. Basically, you can create an icon / short cut to anything that you use the most, including Face book, stock reports, photos, notes, documents, videos, and music. People sometimes ask me what is the difference between this phone and the i9. The icons are most definitely the main one.
What's Still There: There was a lot to like about the i32 and all of the good features are still there. Shake and tilt remains as does the flow touch interface. The phone is still dual sim. It still has FM radio, MP3 / MP4 players, Bluetooth, MMS, SMS, email, web browsing (WAP 2.0). There is now video and voice recording, as well as voice and handwriting recognition. The camera has been upgraded a bit too.
Price / Cost: The price on this phone is not that much more than the old model, especially when it first came out. It's tough to find the older i32's, but if you could, you'd pay around $100 or less. The new 3G version only runs about $50 more than that, which is not too bad, considering all of the upgrades.

Technology Infos - The style of the new iPod video
Thursday, March 12, 2009
Still, an increased concern in how these devices should look and what their particular style expresses is not insignificant, either.
Firstly, the design of the new iPod had to be adapted to the optimized features of the product. Secondly, the most important factor when designing this item was the fact that it had to have a large and colored screen, in order to provide the video feature at a high level. Even more, even though it is a technical device, the iPod always had a fashion of its own, which made the item, besides a provider of music (photos and now, videos), a trendy accessory, which young people preferred to wear. Considering this, the design engineers of the Apple team managed to pay an increased attention to all the aesthetical features of the device and took care of all the tiny details which actually made the iPod look great at the end.
The iPods were found on the market in various colors since their appearance. From the intense and bright pink iPod of the first generation to the elegant and popular white, the iPod managed to keep the same style, even through different colors. Even more, the most famous iPod ads were always focused on bright colors, such as orange, green, intense turquoise and lots of shiny pink.
The iPod video is found on the market today in two basic colors: white and black and the choice of these colors is owed to the fact that, on one hand, the previous iPod nano had the same colors and it was a big hit product since it was launched and, on the other hand, the fact that with the new iPod video, the marketers and the advertising team wanted to promote a more serious look of this device, with a subtle and more elegant style. Still, the ear buds for this device are kept in the same color, white, as they have been since the first appearance of the iPod on the market in the year 2001.
The reviews that regard the aspect and design of the new iPod video mention the fact that some black fruit buds were expected, as well, in other to fit better with the elegant look of the black iPod video. Even more, regarding the colors of the new iPod video, the reviews mention the fact that, while people expected the white iPod video to require more maintenance than the black one, the reality shows the fact that the dirt is much more visible on the black device. At the same time, Apple offers in the large package which includes the iPpod a protecting sleeve for the video device. This sleeve is colored in light grey and manages to protect the iPod and keep it clean, at the same time.
The new package of the iPod video brings many new aesthetic and stylish features: the text and the Apple logo on the box are embossed with silver, which makes the black package look elegant and elitist, which is exactly what the company wanted.

The SciPhone Dream G2 - A Look at This New Google Android Clone
The newest SciPhone Dream G2 has been long awaited. That's because it's the newest and one of the few clones to attempt Google's android mobile operating system. I'll give a quick overview of this phone in the following article.
Stuffed To The Brim With Google Applications: Most feel that this phone is a knock off of HTC's Dream or T Mobile's G1. If the Google wording on the back of the phone isn't a tip off, you need only look at the icons of the phone to quickly determine that it's entirely based around taking full advantage of everything that big G has to offer. This phone supports Google calendar, documents, Gmail, maps, talk, web albums, notebook, sms, news, and docs. It also supports Blogger.
Faster Edge Network: Previous clones ran with a WAP browser (unless you installed opera mini) over GPRS. As you probably already know, Edge is a lot faster and this phone works with the 2.75 G version.
Upgraded Camera and Music: Most of the clones have 1.3 mega pixel cameras. Some of the higher end ones have a 2.0 MP model. This one raises the bar a bit with 4.0 MP and auto focus with flash. This phone probably takes the best photos of all of the clones. It also has the android music and video players as well as an FM radio.
Bluetooth: Most clones include Bluetooth, but this phone supports version v.2.0 EDR and has the following profiles: A2DP, AVRCP, and GAVDP, as well as generic access, hands-free, headset, and dial-up networking. You can also transfer information via USB cord.
Productivity / Business Applications: Obviously being online and using Google products is a big draw to this phone, but there are some other cool features too. In addition to Gmail, the phone supports POP3 and IMAP. It supports reading images and attaching / receiving videos, music and documents. The phone fully supports Word and Excel documents and has a build in IM messenger (including Live, Yahoo, ICQ, and G Talk.)
In terms of appearance, this phone is pretty sharp looking. The screen has a very nice, high resolution picture and it has the finger touch / menu flow interface. You can crop photos, scroll around, and zoom in using only your fingers. The keyboard is a flat, touch one that pops on the screen. The outside housing is streamlined with very few additional buttons. This phone only weighs 110 grams, which is pretty light by clone standards.
The SciPhone Dream is a tri band. This will work for most GSM sim cards. There are some rural areas of AT&T that use the 850 MHZ band. If this is your case, you'd need a quad band phone. A quick call to AT&T would clear this up for you.
In terms of pricing, right now the average price is around $130, but this is probably because the phone is scarce and has just come out. As more flood the market, the price will most likely come down.

With the appearance of the new iPod video on the market in 2005, the iPod became even more popular, as it achieved high umbers in sales and an increased interest from the public. The sales of the iPod video were, in general, better than the expectations. Considering the fact that the new product brought, indeed, something new to the market, which was never tested before and the customers were used to the idea that iPod stands for music and, in a smaller part, it stands for photos, the sales surprised the producers just like the product surprised the customers and the users.

Over the last holiday season, the income were very high, as people seamed to be more interested in purchasing such an item before taking the summer vacation. Due to this fact, the new iPod video turned out to be a great choice of spending the time during the holiday. In fact, the last holiday season brought a 30 % increase of the sales, which is a consistent amount.
Even more, the new iPod video turned out to be an excellent Christmas present, as the sales indicate the fact that the sales of the iPods increased significantly before this important religious holiday. Another sales hit in the history of the iPods was the Apple iPod + hp, which was launched in the year 2004. In the first months of 2006, Apple reported sales of 565 million dollars, which was the highest number in the company?s history. In fact, Apple managed to ship 6, 16 million iPods during the first months of 2005, meaning a 66 % increase over the same period of time in 2004.

Technology Tips - The latest in iPods ? iPod video
IPods have been a great market hit since their appearance in 2001, almost 5 years ago. Since listening to music is one of the favorite activities of today?s individuals, the constant evolution of this device was an important request, so the new product presented a diverse range of new features, accessories and capacities. The iPod evolved from a simple and basic music player to a sum of music player.
The most important new feature of the latest generation of iPods, meaning the 5th generation, is the video. Basically, these inventive and technologically advanced, yet small devices support both MPEG-4 and H.264 videos at significantly high resolutions, which are not far from a VSH tape. Actually, in more precise terms, the H.264 codec can play video at frame rates up to 30 frames per second, video bit rates as high as 768 kilobits per second and pictures as big as 320 pixels wide by 240 pixels high. Comparing the iPod video with the TV 27 FPS or the movies 24 FPS, it is obvious that the small device it is much better.
Regarding the audio qualities, comparing to a CD quality, the iPod video is superior. On the other hand, the MPEG-4 video supports a bit rate of 2,500 kilobits per second and pictures as big as 480 pixels wide by 480 pixels high, meaning three times the size of the actual screen (in comparison with the H.264 video.
The reviews on this item are so far, excellent ? the quality of the motion images is great, with almost perfect colors, even when the device is connected to a TV set in order to watch a video. Even more, watching the videos on the actual iPod is possible due to a larger screen, which also allows the high visibility of sharp texts and photos. Still, even though the battery is claimed to last around 20 hours, which is an evolution since the last iPod model, the battery is much rapidly consumed when watching videos.
The range of improvements since the last model of iPod is impressive: the new video iPod comes with a new design, but in the same black and white colors and with a new set of accessories, which range from world clock, smaller earphones and a thinner slipcase to AC adapter and FireWire cable. Concerning the new package design, the iPod video comes with a new look: the box is flat and in a square shape; the color of the new box is black with silver accents.
The latest generation of iPods surprised the market in many ways: from the video capacities to the other improved features since the last model in 2005 and from the design and package changes to the wide and evolved range of accessories that are available together with the new iPod video. The evolution of the iPod shows an increased interest in constantly developing this device and always considering the needs and desires of the consumer. It is expected that the next generation of iPods to be even more optimized, with a lot of changes in the video settings and a longer capacity of the battery when watching videos.
